Force of Nature

Geek Alert: The Science behind this brilliant little cleaner.

Force of Nature is a patent-pending appliance that uses electricity to change the chemical composition of salt, water, and vinegar into a powerful multi-purpose cleaner & deodorizer from the industrial space called electrolyzed water.

Electrolyzed water has no harmful ingredients, residues or fumes and contains just 2 gentle, yet potent ingredients:

  • Hypochlorous acid – the ingredient that’s as effective as bleach. Hypochlorous acid is the same substance your immune system produces, and it’s commonly the active ingredient in wound, eye and veterinary care products because it’s so gentle and effective.
  • Sodium hydroxide – a detergent & grease-cutter without suds. Contains just 0.0000003% yet cleans as well as major brands that have up to 5%.

The technology to make electrolyzed water has actually been around for years in the industrial space, where it’s used in green cleaners, wound, eye, and even veterinary care products. But until now it required industrial-size equipment costing $10,000+. Force of Nature has scaled it down for your countertop and your wallet!

Does Force of Nature Cleaner Actually Work?

Yes! Force of Nature actually works!

It’s just as effective as conventional cleaners with no harmful chemicals. It’s as effective as Formula 409 on grease, Windex on glass, Scrubbing Bubbles on soap scum, Febreze on odors and Resolve on rugs. And it’s just as effective as bleach.

We know it’s hard to believe that you can convert salt, water & vinegar into such a powerful cleaner, but it’s true!

Okay, lets now look at how I would germ proof my house using Force of Nature or any cleaning product of your choice!

How to Germ-Proof Your House to Stay Healthy!

1. Wipe down all surfaces that are touched often

Did you know that some viruses can linger on surfaces for hours and even days?

The most common places are door handles, light switches, counter handles, counter tops, remotes, phones, washroom facets, appliances.

Think about touch-points as anywhere that your hands go when you come into the house. Also, remember that hard surfaces tend to be more germ-friendly. So wash down all hard surfaces regularly.

I use Force of Nature for all my cleaning. But use whatever you are comfortable with, just make sure you are cleaning high traffic surfaces, often.

2. Disinfect the technology

We often forget about the smaller and likely more frequently touched items like phones, remotes, keyboards, and gaming controllers.

Trust me when I tell you that your cell phone is a hot bed for germs!

Your hands are dirty. And when you’re touching your phone constantly —  — all of those nasty viruses gets transferred to your phone.

Disinfect those puppies. I spray my force of nature all over my cell phone and give it a good wiping. Every.single.day!

3. Deep clean the kitchen and washroom

We likely spend the most time cleaning our kitchen and washroom, but they are also two places that have the most hidden germs, mold, mildew, and food-borne pathogens hiding.

Think about the fridge and the sink, give them a good scrub with your force of nature product (or your cleaning product of choice).

  • Run some vinegar through your dishwasher occasionally to descale and keep things fresh.
  • Don’t let water pool in your sink and dry your dishes.
  • Pay close attention to cutting surfaces and any areas that touch meat or dairy products, as they can be breeding grounds for all sorts of sickness-makers.

PRODUCT ALERT!

You might love Ruth Soukup’s Ultimate Cleaning Bundle which will show you, step-by-step, exactly how to clean every surface in your home, and contains more than $50 in free cleaning & organizing printables (if purchased individually). Best of all, you’ll get the support, know-how, and motivation you need to clear the clutter, finally get organized, and clean like never before.

The washroom is one place I’d love not to have to clean, but must. Scrub all surfaces regularly. Think taps, light switches, and countertops.

Have you heard of this phrase “toilet plume?”

Well let’s hope you never have to hear that phrase again!

It’s a little burst of toilet water that sprays into the air when you flush a toilet — and it can reach far and high.

Perhaps keep your toothbrush in the medicine cabinet? Away from the toilet plume!

  • Consider using a trashcan liner in your washroom to save you from touching used tissues and other items. Don’t forget to occasionally wipe out your garbage cans.
  • Don’t forget to change your mops and brushes often so you are using clean items, don’t just push germs around the floor.
  • Check out two tips here on how to keep your housework under control in under 10 minutes a day!

Pro Tip

A solution of vinegar and baking soda, lemon, and soap can also make a refresher cleaner for a chemical free home.

4. Wash your towel’s – often

Every day when you dry off with your towel, that towel turns into a breeding ground of bacteria, fungi, dead skin, and secretions of all kind, anal, urinary, salivary (I know — gross).

Microbes are there – and they multiple, especially if your towel is damp.

I like to wash my towel every three uses and be sure to hang it to air dry (in other words, don’t leave it crumpled on the floor in a wet mess).

5. Sanitize sponges

Kitchen sponges house many germs. Sponges are warm and damp with tons of food.

Sponges can house TONS of awful bacteria, including salmonella, E. coli, and listeria – all of which can cause gastro issues.

I soak my sponges directly in my Force of Nature cleaner.

Another nice trick is to microwave your sponges for one minute to kill any germs hidden in the sponge.

6. Wash hands and feet

Hand washing as recently been drilled into our heads!

Wash your hands.

And it’s important all year round, especially in the winter, and especially during a pandemic.

Teach your kids to wash below their nails, to get some suds action going and to scrub their knuckles and fingertips.

Most people don’t actually know how to properly wash their hands, learn here.

We usually sing happy birthday twice and that’s a good judge of how long you should be sudzing up for.

Also, ensure that shoes and boots are removed at the door and kept in a boot tray. Everything I come in the door I think to myself, is there anything I need to do here to keep germs out?

Perhaps that means wiping down packages, taking a shower, or immediately washing my hands.

Mop and steam clean your floors on a regular basis, and every six months or so be sure to have carpets or area rugs cleaned.

7. Reduce Allergens and Keep the Air Clean

Wash all bedding frequently, wash linens, pillows and blankets.

We don’t need to even get into all the disgusting things lurking in your bedsheets, trust me you don’t want me to go there.

On top of all the disgusting things in your bedding, there are also dust mites. Dust mites can make you wake up stuffy, or exacerbate allergies or asthma.

So wash your bedding once a week!

You can also seal your mattress and pillows in a water-proof allergy barrier, such as this one from Allersoft.

A few other air purifier tips:

  • Keep your windows clean, wash between the cracks.
  • Air purifiers will help cut down on allergens and bring in fresh air during those winter months.
  • I also like to sprinkle a few plants throughout my house (and they add a bit of energy and life).
  • We also change our furnace filters often. Definitely mid-way through the winter season.
  • In the winter months, you might also want to consider a humidifier. They can help prevent sinus infections and add moisture to the air which can help with that dry skin and hair feeling and reduce static cling.
